WoW Forever First Aid Guide, the Secondary That Stopped Being Optional
6 min read
First Aid was the profession people skipped in Classic. Two bandage ranks behind every cloth tier, a buff nobody used, and a Triage quest most players never touched. World of Warcraft: Forever rebuilt it.
It crafts Healing Potions now. The whole progression from Minor to Major moved off Alchemy, which puts the most-consumed item in the game in the hands of a secondary profession that costs you no primary slot. It also answers Bleeds, Diseases and Poisons through three separate crafted lines, and it places a camp object at skill 20. Every character should train it, and Wowhead flags it as especially useful for anyone who is not a healer
Healing Potions moved to First Aid

The full ladder, with the skill you need and where the recipe comes from:
| Potion | Skill | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Minor Healing Potion | 1 | Trainer |
| Lesser Healing Potion | 55 | Trainer |
| Healing Potion | 110 | Trainer |
| Greater Healing Potion | 155 | Manual |
| Superior Healing Potion | 215 | Manual |
| Major Healing Potion | 275 | Manual |
Every other potion, elixir and flask stays with Alchemy. Alchemists keep their whole book apart from this one line.
There is a cost attached that the official forums are already arguing over. The potion recipes want herbs and vials as you would expect, but they also want cooking spices such as Mild Spices and Hot Spices. First Aid used to be the one profession you could run in complete isolation on cloth off the mobs you were already killing. That is finished. Supplying your own potions now means Herbalism or gold
The Forever upgrades to First Aid
Classic First Aid answered Poison and nothing else. Forever splits debuff removal into three crafted lines.
Poultices cure Diseases:
| Item | Skill | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Simple Poultice | 90 | Trainer |
| Fine Poultice | 140 | Manual |
| Superior Poultice | 210 | Manual |
| Potent Poultice | 280 | Manual |
Tourniquets cure Bleeds:
| Item | Skill | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Woolen Tourniquet | 120 | Trainer |
| Leather Tourniquet | 200 | Manual |
| Surgical Tourniquet | 265 | Manual |
Poison keeps the Anti-Venom line, with Strong Anti-Venom arriving at skill 215 from a manual.
That is Bleed, Disease and Poison covered by one secondary profession, in a game whose dungeons lean on all three and where most classes answer none of them

Training splits four ways. Apprentice runs 1 to 75 and Journeyman 75 to 150, both from a trainer. Expert covers 150 to 225 and comes from a book. Artisan takes you 225 to 300 and comes from a quest.

The Expert book and the Artisan quest

Expert, for 150 to 225, needs Expert First Aid – Under Wraps. It is faction locked:
- Alliance buy it from Deneb Walker in Stromgarde Keep, Arathi Highlands, /way 27.0 58.8
- Horde buy it from Balai Lok’Wein in Brackenwall Village, Dustwallow Marsh, /way 36.4 30.4
Artisan, for 225 to 300, unlocks at character level 35 with 225 First Aid. There is a breadcrumb quest, though you can skip it and go straight to the real one.
The breadcrumb comes from Nissa Firestone in Ironforge for the Alliance, or Arnok in Orgrimmar for the Horde.
The quest that matters is Triage, back in its 1.12 form:
- Alliance take Triage from Doctor Gustaf VanHowzen on Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh, /way 67.6 48.8
- Horde take Triage from Doctor Gregory Victor in Hammerfall, Arathi Highlands, /way 73.4 36.8
Skip the breadcrumb and ride straight to the doctor. It saves a trip to a capital
What First Aid brings to camp
| Tier | Object | Skill | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | First Aid Kit | 20 | Trainer |
| 2 | Toxin Study | 140 | Blueprint |
| 3 | Plague Doctor’s Laboratory | 300 | Blueprint |
The First Aid Kit grants Stamina to everyone sitting nearby and costs three Linen Bandage and one Refreshing Spring Water, which makes it effectively free. Check your group first, because it does not stack with Power Word: Fortitude and a party with a Priest gets nothing from it.
The upper tiers hold Healing Potions and curatives for the whole camp while keeping the Kit’s buff, and both come from Blueprints that drop in dungeons rather than from a trainer

Is First Aid worth it in WoW Forever?
Yes, on every character, and the case is stronger than it has ever been.
It takes no primary slot. It makes the consumable players burn through faster than any other. It covers three debuff schools. It places a camp object at skill 20 for three bandages. And in a game with no character boost and no WoW Token, an item everybody needs and nobody can buy with real money holds its price.
The honest argument against is the reagent change. First Aid is no longer self-sufficient, and without Herbalism or gold the potion half stays shut. Bandages, curatives and camp objects all still run on cloth alone, so the profession is worth training either way
The Legacy perks that count
Field Medicine sits in the Adventure tree across two ranks and cuts the Recently Bandaged duration by 5 or 10 seconds. It does nothing in dungeons, raids or battlegrounds, so treat it as a solo and open-world perk, and it needs 5 points spent in the tree first.
Working Overtime sits in the Professions tree across five ranks and raises your chance of a skill increase from any tradeskill by up to 20%. It is open from the start and it speeds up every profession you level, not just this one
What to do first
- Train it on every character. No primary slot, and the camp object alone pays for it
- Reach skill 20 early for the First Aid Kit, unless your regular group already runs a Priest
- Take Working Overtime before pushing any profession. Twenty per cent more skill-ups applies across all of them
- Buy the Expert book at 150. Both vendors sit a long ride from a capital, so collect it on a trip you are already making
- Ride straight to the doctor at 225. Theramore for Alliance, Hammerfall for Horde, and skip the breadcrumb
- Bank Mild Spices and Hot Spices. They are Cooking vendor items and the potions need them
- Level on bandages and sell the potions. Cloth is cheap and Greater Healing Potions are not
First Aid costs very little gold and a lot of hours, like everything else in Forever. KingBoost levels WoW Forever professions from launch day so the potions are in your bags before the raids open on December 9
