WoW Forever Professions Guide, Every Change and the Best Combos
6 min read
Professions in World of Warcraft: Forever stopped being a level 60 chore. Over 600 new recipes are spread across every skill bracket, your first camp object unlocks at skill 20, and a quest called The Great Outdoors puts you into the camping system at around level 5. A profession you start early pays you back for the whole run.
The part that changes how you choose is Camping. Every profession crafts objects that buff everyone sitting at a shared fire, and almost every one of those buffs is exclusive with a specific class buff. An Herbalist’s Incense Candle does nothing for a group that already has Arcane Intellect. Pick the profession that covers what your party is missing
What changed from Classic

- 600+ new recipes across professions and skill ranges, not bunched at the cap
- Camping, a crafting system that sits beside your professions rather than taking a slot
- 36 camp objects, three per profession, unlocking at skill 20, 140 and 300
- Crafted food that grants a small experience bonus alongside stats
- A Legacy tree for professions, plus three perks aimed at camping
- Healing Potions moved to First Aid. The whole Minor through Major progression left Alchemy
The nine Classic primaries are the nine you get. There is no Jewelcrafting in Forever, and no new primary professions
Every profession and what it brings to camp
| Profession | Tier 1 object at skill 20 | Buff | Does not stack with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fishing | Fish Bowl | 8% increased stats | Blessing of Kings |
| Skinning | Camp Chair | 2% critical strike on all spells and attacks | Moonkin Aura |
| Enchanting | Enchanted Lute | Armor, all stats and resistances | Mark of the Wild |
| Mining | Lodestone | Melee Attack Power | Blessing of Might |
| Blacksmithing | Sharpening Wheel | Strength | Strength of Earth Totem |
| Herbalism | Incense Candle | Intellect | Arcane Intellect |
| Tailoring | Faction Banner | Spirit, faction members only | Divine Spirit |
| Alchemy | Mana Well | Mana regeneration | Blessing of Wisdom |
| Leatherworking | Camp Tent | Rested XP up to 5% of a level | Nothing |
| First Aid | First Aid Kit | Stamina | Power Word: Fortitude |
| Engineering | Reagent Bot | Buy reagents, no stat buff | Nothing |
| Cooking | Basic Campfire | The camp itself | Nothing |
Read that exclusivity column before you commit. A Druid group does not want a Camp Chair. A raid with two Paladins does not want a Fish Bowl or a Lodestone. The three objects that always land are the Camp Tent, since nothing else grants rested experience, the Reagent Bot line, since repairs and reagents have no class equivalent, and whichever stat buff your group actually lacks
How camping works
You pick it up around level 5 through The Great Outdoors, which asks you to sit at a campfire and then sends you to a Cooking trainer for the Basic Campfire. Every profession you have trained then gives you a quest that teaches its Tier 1 camp object.
Here are the steps:
- A Basic Campfire holds 3 objects. You place one yourself, so the other two need other players
- Cooking is the only way to grow that. The Journeyman Campfire at skill 90 holds 5, the Expert Campfire at skill 200 holds 10
- Every camp object shares a one hour cooldown, so you place one and that is your hour
- You have to sit or craft near the fire for 1 minute before the buffs land
- Crafting a camp object gives you two, and they are consumed when placed
- Objects are tradeable, but you need the profession skill to place one. Anybody can take the buff
Tiers 2 and 3 arrive at skill 140 and skill 300, and each keeps the buff of the object it replaces while adding a workstation. Blacksmithing goes Anvil then Master Forge. Alchemy goes Fermenter then Alchemy Laboratory. Mining’s Rock Garden spawns a mining node over time and Herbalism’s Greenhouse grows herbs from planted seeds

WoW Forever Honor Points
Which profession makes the most money in WoW Forever?

Mining, for the opening month. Gold cannot be bought in Forever. There is no WoW Token and no character boost, so every copper in the economy was farmed by somebody. Ore feeds Blacksmithing and Engineering, both of which carry hundreds of new recipes, and the Bountiful Harvest Legacy perk raises what each node gives you. Herbalism runs the same play with Alchemy as its buyer, and the Greenhouse at skill 140 starts growing herbs for you between sessions.
After the first month the money moves to crafting. Alchemy sells consumables every raid week from December 9. Enchanting is the quiet winner, because ring enchants are new to Forever, they run five tiers across Spell Power, Attack Power and Stamina, and every player in the game has two ring slots that were bare in Classic. Blacksmithing belt buckles in Silver, Iron, Mithril and Arcanite tiers sell on the same logic.
One correction to the common take. Skinning and Fishing add few new recipes, but do not write them off, because their camp objects are the two strongest in the game. A Fish Bowl at 8% to all stats and a Camp Chair at 2% crit outclass most of what the crafting professions place
The best profession combos in WoW Forever
For gold. Mining and Herbalism. No crafting costs, no recipe hunting, one shared Legacy perk, and both gather on roads you already travel
For raiding. Alchemy and Herbalism if you want to supply yourself. Enchanting and Tailoring if you would rather sell to the roster. Blacksmithing and Mining for plate wearers who want belt buckles, tanking weapons and their own Master Forge on the road
For PvP. Engineering and Mining. Engineering is the one profession with no trained stat bonus because the gadgets are the bonus, and Gnomes cut device failures by 20% through Engineering Specialization
For levelling. Skinning and Mining. The Camp Chair and the Lodestone are both combat buffs, both gather on the move, and neither costs you materials. Tauren get a head start through Cultivation, which grows bonus herbs anyone can pick without Herbalism
For a group that camps together. Split the three slots. One person on Leatherworking for the Camp Tent and rested experience, one on Engineering for the Repair Bot, and one on whichever stat buff your classes do not already cover
The best profession for every class
| Class | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Mining and Blacksmithing | Plate, belt buckles and the new tanking swords and maces |
| Paladin | Mining and Blacksmithing | Same plate case, and two of the new plans carry spell damage and healing for hybrids |
| Shaman | Mining and Blacksmithing | Mail crafting, with the hybrid plans pointing the same way |
| Hunter | Skinning and Leatherworking | Mail from 40, and Leatherworking is one of the two deepest recipe lists in the game |
| Rogue | Skinning and Engineering | Camp Chair crit suits you, gadgets suit your PvP |
| Druid | Herbalism and Alchemy | Mana matters in three specs, and skip Skinning since Moonkin Aura already covers that camp buff |
| Mage | Tailoring and Enchanting | Cloth drops from mobs, so neither slot goes to gathering |
| Priest | Tailoring and Enchanting | Same logic, though your own Divine Spirit makes the Faction Banner redundant at camp |
| Warlock | Tailoring and Enchanting | Same again, with shard transmutes feeding your own enchants |
Can you have more than two professions in WoW Forever?
Two primaries per character, as in Classic. Cooking, Fishing and First Aid are secondary and use no primary slot, so every character can run all three on top. Camping is not a profession at all, it sits alongside them.
That matters more than usual here, because Fishing and First Aid both place strong camp objects and neither costs you a primary slot. Take all three secondaries on every character
Should you level professions while you level to 60?
Yes, and the game is built to push you. The first camp object trains at skill 20. Recipes sit in every bracket rather than stacking at the top. Gathering nodes are on the roads between quests already.
Leave it to 60 and your first week at cap goes on riding back through Westfall and the Barrens for low-level materials while everyone else gears up. 1 to 60 is roughly 150 hours by itself, and adding a profession to that run costs almost nothing. Bolting one on afterwards costs a week

The Legacy perks that change camping
Three perks in the Legacy trees point straight at camps:
- Reagent Economy removes vendor reagent costs from your class abilities and makes your Tier 1 camp objects free to craft
- Field Guide, three ranks, cuts the cooldown on placing camp features by 8% per rank
- Permanence, two ranks, makes your long-duration party buffs last 50% longer and extends the benefits you gain from resting at a camp by the same
Bountiful Harvest sits in the Professions tree and raises materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning. Profession milestones also count as Legacy Challenges, so skilling up earns points your other characters can spend
What to do first
- Do The Great Outdoors as soon as it appears around level 5. It costs a /sit and it opens the whole system
- Train both primaries before you leave your starting zone. Every starting path now has profession hooks attached
- Push one profession to skill 20 early so you have an object to place while levelling
- Take all three secondaries on every character. They cost no primary slot and two of them place strong camp objects
- Check the exclusivity column before you pick a second primary. A buff your group already has is a wasted slot
- Get Cooking to 90 if you camp with a group. Nobody else can grow the fire past three objects
Professions in Forever run alongside a levelling climb that already takes around 150 hours. KingBoost handles WoW Forever profession levelling from launch day, on the professions you decide to go with.
