WoW Forever Cooking, Best Food for Every Stat and the Route to 300
6 min read
Cooking carries more weight in World of Warcraft: Forever than it ever did in Classic. There are 123 recipes in the beta client and 42 of them are new. Every dish grants a Well Fed buff that adds experience on top of its stats, so it pays you back while you level rather than only at raid invite. It is also the only profession that builds a camp and the only one that can make a camp bigger.
Food buffs run for 900 seconds and you sit and eat for 10 seconds to get them. Feasts run for 2700 seconds and serve 40 players. Take it on every character
What is the best food in WoW Forever?

Every stat has a dedicated dish now. The top of each line uses Holy Salts, which is the reagent separating the best food from the merely good.
| Stat | Best food | Buff |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | Prowler Steak | 25 Strength and 10 Stamina |
| Agility | Filet o’ Flank | 25 Agility and 10 Stamina |
| Spell Damage | Sunrise Omelette | 25 Spell Damage, 55 Healing Power and 10 Stamina |
| Healing Power | Sunrise Omelette | 55 Healing Power |
| Intellect | Bat Hachee, Prehistoric Pulled Raptor or Soaring Pamplona | 20 Intellect |
| Stamina | Savory Turtle Stew | 20 Stamina |
| Spirit | Wicked Smoothie | 20 Spirit |
| Armor | Plated Armorfish | 150 Armor |
Sunrise Omelette is the standout. Two Giant Egg and one Holy Salts buys a healer 55 Healing Power and 10 Stamina, or a caster 25 Spell Damage on the same plate. Nothing else in the list covers two roles at once.
Without Holy Salts the 20-point tier is cheap and everywhere. Steaming Stag Steak or Bear Bruscitti for Strength, Swiftstrike Steak or Flank au Poivre for Agility, Savory Turtle Stew for Stamina at skill 275

Teas for healers, smoothies for Spirit
Teas restore mana and scale Healing Power. The ladder runs Peace Tea at 2, Royal Tea at 7, Root Tea at 11, Triage Tea at 22, Sunny Tea at 33, and Sage’s Tea at 44 Healing Power from one Morning Glory Dew and two Mountain Silversage. Any healer not eating Sunrise Omelette should be drinking Sage’s Tea.
Smoothies are the only Spirit food in the game and you cannot train them. All six come from the Merchant’s Favor vendors, paid for with a currency you earn by finding supply crates in the world and handing them in at a trade camp.
| Smoothie | Cooking skill | Cost |

Feasts for the raid
Two feasts do the same job. Grand Lobster Banquet takes twelve Darkclaw Lobster, four Turtle Meat, three Buzzard Wing and one Exquisite Spices. Specklefin Feast takes twelve Raw Spotted Yellowtail, four Raptor Flesh, three Raw Rockscale Cod and the same Exquisite Spices.
Either lays out for 180 seconds, serves 40 players, and hands everyone 20 Attack Power, 23 Spell Damage, 44 Healing Power and 10 Stamina for 2700 seconds.
One feast covers a full raid for 45 minutes. When Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair open on December 9, somebody on your roster needs to make these
Levelling Cooking from 1 to 300

Fish carries most of the route, so a character with Fishing supplies its own Cooking for free.
| Skill | Craft | Crafts needed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 46 | Slitherskin Mackerel | ~45 |
| 46 to 81 | Smoked Bear Meat | ~35 |
| 81 to 100 | Rainbow Fin Albacore | ~21 |
| 100 to 161 | Bristle Whisker Catfish | ~70 |
| 161 to 166 | Lean Wolf Steak | ~5 |
| 166 to 175 | Curiously Tasty Omelet | ~10 |
| 175 to 191 | Rockscale Cod | ~16 |
| 191 to 225 | Mithril Head Trout | ~36 |
| 225 to 266 | Filet of Redgill | ~41 |
| 266 to 300 | Poached Sunscale Salmon | ~36 |
Apprentice comes from any Cooking trainer and caps at 75. Journeyman unlocks at skill 50 and character level 10 and caps at 150. Expert needs the Expert Cookbook, bought for gold from skill 125, and caps at 225. Artisan takes you to 300 and comes from Dirge Quikcleave in Gadgetzan, Tanaris, at character level 35 with 225 Cooking.
Bring the Artisan materials with you rather than shopping in Gadgetzan. Twelve Giant Egg, ten Zesty Clam Meat and twenty Alterac Swiss.
One thing to know before you plan around this. The beta caps every profession at 225, so the last two rows only matter once that cap lifts at launch

WoW Forever PvP Rank
The shopping list to 225
Two items from any trade supplies vendor, for coppers: 5 Mild Spices and 10 Hot Spices.
Everything else you farm or buy from other players, and this is where the cost sits:
- 45 Raw Slitherskin Mackerel
- 35 Bear Meat
- 21 Raw Rainbow Fin Albacore
- 70 Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish
- 5 Lean Wolf Flank
- 10 Raptor Egg
- 16 Raw Rockscale Cod
- 36 Raw Mithril Head Trout
For the last stretch after launch, add 41 Raw Redgill and 36 Raw Sunscale Salmon
How do you upgrade your campfire?
Cooking is the only profession that can, and this is the reason to push it past the food.
| Campfire | Cooking skill | Camp slots |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Campfire | 1 | 3 |
| Journeyman Campfire | 90 | 5 |
| Expert Campfire | 200 | 10 |
Every other profession contributes one object to a camp. Cooking decides how many objects the camp can hold at all. At three slots a group is choosing between buffs. At ten it runs nearly every buff in the game at once.
Cooking also places Cookie’s Feast at skill 140 for Stamina food, and the Iron Oven at skill 300, which the most advanced recipes require. Players sit or craft near the fire for 60 seconds before camp benefits land
The Legacy perks that change Cooking
Four perks matter, and two of them are close to mandatory:
- Master Chef, Professions tree, five ranks, needs 5 points spent in the tree. Your cooking recipes gain a 10 to 50% chance to produce an extra result. At full rank that is half your materials back
- Gourmand, Resourcefulness tree, three ranks, open from the start. Food buff duration up by 33 to 100%. At full rank a 15 minute buff runs 30 minutes
- Working Overtime, Professions tree, five ranks, open from the start. Up to 20% more skill-ups from any tradeskill, so take it before you level anything
- Dedicated Study, Professions tree, one rank, needs 10 points in the tree and a rank in Bartering. Adds 1 skill to your lowest tradeskill on a 23 hour cooldown
Is Cooking worth it in WoW Forever?
Yes, on every character, and it is closer to mandatory than any other secondary.
No primary slot. Every dish adds experience through Well Fed across a run that takes roughly 150 hours. It is the only route to a camp larger than three objects, so a group without a cook is permanently capped at three buffs. The feasts are raid infrastructure rather than a nice extra.
The one honest note is that Cooking gives no title. Every primary profession vendor sells a Certification that unlocks one. The Cooking vendor does not
What to do first
- Train it on every character. No primary slot and every meal pays experience
- Take Working Overtime and Gourmand before you cook anything. Both are open from the start and both apply to everything that follows
- Level on fish. Six of the ten route steps are fish, so a character with Fishing supplies its own Cooking for nothing
- Buy the Expert Cookbook at skill 125. You cannot pass 225 without it
- Collect supply crates as you level. Merchant’s Favor is the only way to the six smoothie recipes and the first one unlocks at skill 25
- Bank Holy Salts and Exquisite Spices. They gate the best food and both feasts
- Ride to Gadgetzan at 225 and level 35 with twelve Giant Egg, ten Zesty Clam Meat and twenty Alterac Swiss
Cooking is cheap to train and slow to max, like everything else in Forever. KingBoost levels WoW Forever professions from launch day so the feasts are ready before December 9
