Best Mythic+ Classes for Midnight Season 2
5 min read
Last updated July 17, 2026
Mythic+ asks a completely different question than raids. Keys reward AoE and burst-AoE over pure single-target, utility like interrupts, stops and battle rez, and a tank that can hold huge pulls and survive spike damage between cooldowns. A spec can be a raid bench warmer and a key monster, or the reverse. The Season 2 pool is eight dungeons (Altar of Fangs, Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, The Blinding Vale, Voidscar Arena, plus returning Kings' Rest, Ruby Life Pools and Temple of Sethraliss), and here's how the specs project against thоse. Projections, not final, tuning is still moving and no keys have been timed yet.
Tanks for Season 2 Mythic+

Protection Paladin projects as the premier key tank. Beyond the survivability buffs, its value in M+ is the toolkit: strong stops, big pulls held through Consecration and the new self-healing, and the bubble to negate a lethal spike. On a pull-heavy dungeon like the new Altar of Fangs, a Paladin gathering a large pack and surviving the opening burst while the group AoEs is the projected default.
Guardian Druid stays a top key tank on its Season 1 profile, huge health, strong AoE threat and mobility for skips. It barely changed, so it's under-tested, not weaker.
Blood DK projects well for the highest keys specifically, where its self-sustain and grip control shine on tight trash. Scenario call: on a dungeon with dangerous casters that need gathering, like the returning Temple of Sethraliss packs, a Blood DK's grip-n-clump is projected to smooth pulls that a less mobile tank has to chase.

M+ healing rewards triage, burst-healing through spike windows and offensive utility during smooth pulls, which favors a different set than raid healing.
Discipline Priest projects strong because keys reward a healer who also deals damage on calm pulls, and Disc's Atonement does exactly that while its shields pre-empt the spike damage of a big pull. Mistweaver Monk projects as the self-sufficient key healer with the mobility M+ demands and useful stuns via the tiger-palm kit. Restoration Shaman brings the only healer interrupt plus huge AoE throughput, projected to be excellent on the trash-dense dungeons, and Preservation Evoker's low-target quality-of-life buffs plus a strong tier set have more people testing it for keys than its history suggests.
Scenario call: on a burst-heavy dungeon where trash globals people, the projected safest key healer is one with pre-emptive absorbs (Disc) or a strong external plus interrupt (Resto Shaman), over a reactive throughput healer that's always one global behind the spike.
DPS for Season 2 Mythic+

Key DPS is about AoE, burst-AoE on demand for big pulls, and the utility that lets a group skip and control trash.
AoE and cleave leaders. Balance Druid, buffed across its kit, projects excellent for M+, multi-dotting a big pull plus Starfall AoE is exactly what keys want. Havoc DH brings AoE plus the mobility and utility (interrupts, stuns, the sigils) that make it a perennial key pick, and the Essence Break set gives it a burst-AoE window roughly every pull. Devastation Evoker and Destruction Warlock (freshly buffed) project strong for stacked burst-AoE.
Utility-carried picks. Some specs earn their slot on tools as much as damage. Augmentation Evoker amplifies the group, Unholy DK brings disease-spread AoE plus grip utility, and any spec with a reliable interrupt and stop gains value in a pool with dangerous caster trash.
Scenario call for Altar of Fangs: if the new dungeon's trash leans on caster packs (as the venom and snake theme suggests), specs with strong interrupt and stop density, plus burst-AoE to clear before the next pull, project as the most valuable, favoring DH, Unholy and multi-dot casters over pure single-target specs.
The honest caveat
No keys have been timed on live yet, the affix and dungeon tuning will shift, and week-one rating data always reshuffles the projected order. Pick a spec whose kit fits how you like to play keys, then trust the live rating aggregators once the season opens.
Skip the climb
Whatever you play, pushing rating from a fresh season is a grind. If you want the Keystone Master or Keystone Hero rewards, a specific rating, or just clean timed keys for gear, our teams handle Season 2 Mythic+ from the first week.

Midnight Keystone Legend Season 2
WHAT IS THE BEST M+ TANK FOR SEASON 2?
Protection Paladin projects as the top key tank on its survivability buffs plus strong stops and pull control, with Guardian Druid close behind on its Season 1 profile. Early read, to be confirmed by live rating data.
WHAT DPS IS BEST FOR MYTHIC+ IN SEASON 2?
AoE and utility win keys, so Balance Druid, Havoc DH, Devastation Evoker and utility picks like Augmentation and Unholy DK project strongest, rather than the pure single-target specs that top raid charts.
IS THE BEST M+ SPEC THE SAME AS THE BEST RAID SPEC?
Usually not. M+ rewards AoE, burst-AoE and utility while raids reward single-target and mechanic fit, so the lists differ. Check the raid guide separately if you do both.
