WoW Patch 12.1.5, The Promise of Tomorrow
10 min read
Patch 12.1.5 lands October 13 with weekly maintenance. One boss, a nine-chamber Labyrinth, an hourly outdoor event, a Mythic+ title at 3600 and a way past the current Season 2 item level ceiling.
The timing has a catch, and it starts before the patch does
The rollout runs three weeks

Week of October 6. Orin Straylight starts offering one extra Nebulous Voidcore per week for bonus rolls. Two quests gate it: In the Catalyst’s Shadow from Decimus in Voidstorm, then Prismatic Potential from Orin in Silvermoon. Both need turning in before that week’s maintenance. Orin then offers Umbral Blessings of the Catalyst, which trades gold, Voidlight Marl or Veteran Mistcrests for the extra Voidcore weekly.
Week of October 13. Patch day. Ancient Depths, Ancient Venom goes up and Orin starts researching Venomstones.
Week of October 20. Ascending with Venomstones unlocks, and the crest cap lifts the same week.
The two prep quests are the only thing in this patch you can actually miss
The Unbinding of Kith’ix
One boss. Kith’ix is the C’Thraxxi general the Amani buried under the Venomous Abyss, restrained by Ula’tek herself. Killing her let him out.
Lady Liadrin fights with you the whole way, and the encounter is built around keeping her alive. Story, Normal, Heroic and Mythic, with Mythic on a flexible 15 to 25 rather than a locked 20.
Stage One: Darkness’ Domain
Voidswarm tears void portals open over 6 seconds, ticking Shadow damage and dumping aqir into the room. Three add types rotate by difficulty:
- Venomous Hulk cones the raid with Venom Roar and knocks back
- Voidweaver channels Voidweave and stacks Nightfall, which raises Nightfall damage taken by 20% per stack
- Bomber Beetle fixates then detonates via Gut Reaction, coating everyone in stacking Digestive Juices
On Heroic and Mythic every add carries Incubation, so they burst into Mindstingers on death, each one stunning a player with Mindsting.
At 100 energy Kith’ix casts Suffocating Darkness, closing a storm in on the raid. Anything caught takes Suffocation, pacified and slowed 30%. Any aqir still alive when it lands gets Dark Frenzy – double attack and movement speed, crowd control immunity, and raid-wide damage every second. Kill the adds before the cast.
During the storm Abyssal Grasp grabs players with a heal absorb and drags them in after 8 seconds if it is not cleared. Liadrin holds the line with Refulgent Bulwark and ends it with Divine Radiance, stunning Kith’ix for 8 seconds. Every time she does, she gains Exhausted, which stacks and makes the next one worse.
Extinguish is the raid-wide hit that strips Light’s Embrace, Liadrin’s motes that cut Shadow damage by 90%. Grabbing one before Extinguish is the difference between a heal check and a wipe. Also watch Unspeakable Horrors into Overwhelming Fear, Twisted Appendage, and the tank’s Dark Devastation applying Devastated at 150% increased Physical and Shadow damage taken, stacking.
Heroic and Mythic add Voidscar puddles from Dark Devastation, which Suffocating Darkness energises into Eclipse Fragments. Those drift toward Liadrin, and anything reaching her triggers Lost Refulgence, shrinking her bubble permanently. Commanding Presence also cuts aqir damage taken by 50% near the boss.
Stage Two: Last Light
At 25% he casts Stygian Howl, stuns the raid, absorbs his own adds and starts Eightfold Eclipse. Eight eclipses manifest. When the last one lands they converge on Liadrin and kill the raid outright.
Liadrin answers with Last Light, full-healing everyone and granting Luminous Grace at +100% damage and +100% healing. That is your burn window and it is the whole phase.
The thing that kills pugs here is Null Gate. It targets players, opens a gate at their position and scatters Nullshards, both applying Nullify. Four stacks of Nullify kills you instantly.
Negation on the tank is removed by touching a Null Gate, which also destroys the gate. On Mythic it applies multiple stacks and the explosion scales with how many are left
Kith’ix loot
Gear drops at 3/6 on each track, except Mythic.
| Difficulty | Item level | Track |
|---|---|---|
| LFR | 285 | Veteran 3/6 |
| Normal | 298 | Champion 3/6 |
| Heroic | 311 | Hero 3/6 |
| Mythic | 344 | Myth 9/6 |
Mythic dropping at 9/6 rather than 3/6 is the part to notice. One boss, one lockout, near-max Myth track.
Four Cantrip armour pieces, all on tier slots. They catalyse into tier and keep the cantrip effect, which has been true since Season 2 started. The cantrip effects pay extra if you are wearing a Venomcursed piece from Ula’tek.
Two weapons, a one-handed caster sword and a two-hander. The two-hander competes directly with Maze-roa, Warlord’s Fury from Coiled Altar, which carries a set bonus of its own.
Three trinkets, one each for tank, DPS and healer. One cantrip ring with heavy Mastery and Haste, and it is the highest item level ring in Season 2. Plus a decor item and a Hearthstone
Labyrinth of Kindo’jan

An Amani funeral complex sealed for centuries, reopened, with looters and Vilebranch picking it over while the interred object.
- Nine chambers
- Valeera Sanguinar replaces Brann as the companion
- Its own progression system with unlocks scaling to challenge
- One session or one wing at a time, banking rewards as you go
- Mythic-track gear, cosmetics and titles
- Tier 11 at the top end
The final boss is Kindo’jan, whose datamined model reads as a Loa. Killing him solo on Tier 11 before the first weekly reset awards the title Fabled Vanquisher of Kindo’jan under a new Delve Hall of Fame category.
There are also Delve-specific glove enhancements built for the mode
Ascendant Venomstones
They drop from every Heroic or Mythic raid boss, Mythic+10 and above, Tier 11 Bountiful Delves, and Nightmare Prey Hunt Champion gear chests.
Ten of them at the Catalyst in Silvermoon raises the item level of one fully upgraded Season 2 Hero, Myth or max-quality Tidal Crafted piece.
Season 1 Voidcores covered weapons and trinkets. Season 2 adds necklaces
Keystone Myth, Season 2
3600 rating for Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2. Blizzard set it against current rating data plus the gear still coming out of Kith’ix and the Labyrinth, and is shipping targeted dungeon tuning for outliers alongside it
Aqir Invasions
Zone-wide events rotating between Eversong and Zul’Aman, one per hour, ten minutes long, chained public events into a boss.
Six scenario types, three combat and three not. Combat rolls one of eight affixes:
| Affix | Effect |
|---|---|
| Void Protection | An Aqir Voidweaver shields every other aqir present |
| Aqir Burrower | Burrowers tunnel through and launch anyone nearby skyward |
| Void Sphere | Roaming spheres try to trap players inside them |
| Astalor’s Anguish | Anguish Crystals damage aqir and anyone standing too close |
| Swarms! | Every enemy replaced with swarms of smaller aqir |
| Aqir Elites | Fewer enemies, considerably harder |
| Void Infestation | Infested aqir explode in combat and infect others |
| Web Weavers | An Aqir Webweaver webs a player unless the channel is interrupted |
Rewards scale with objectives cleared inside the window
The 7 million gold mount
Sporebearer Fungal Strider, sold in Harandar for 5 million gold. Default loadout is a mailbox and a repair vendor. Extra NPCs including an auctioneer and a transmogrifier push it to 7 million for everything. Swapping them is handled by an NPC in Harandar.
The mount leaves the vendor when Midnight ends. The NPC access stays. Wowhead ran a cost comparison against previous vendor mounts
Class tuning so far
Mostly fixes through 28 September, with three real changes.
Evoker. Augmentation Scalecommander gets Melt Armor damage increased by 100%. Chronowarden now has Temporality and Temporal Burst durations scaling with Mastery: Timewalker. Preservation’s Consume Flame stops double dipping from healing increases on the target.
Warrior. Protection Colossus gets Practiced Strikes cutting Execute and Revenge rage cost by 10, aimed at making Colossus the Rage-efficient Prot build.
Shaman. Restoration’s Swelling Tides extends Riptide instead of resetting it, and Nature’s Swiftness and Ancestral Swiftness correctly make Healing Rain instant.
PvP. Preservation Evoker’s Merithra’s Blessing counts as Arcane, so a Nature lockout no longer stops it.
The rest is Hunter, Mage, Monk and Rogue bug fixes, plus new weapon trails on Mutilate, Crimson Tempest and Shadow Blades
Everything else
Warbands. Legion and Battle for Azeroth reputations go warband-wide.
Prey. Catch-up scaling: below rank 3 pays 4,000 Journey progress per hunt, ranks 3 to 8 pay 2,000 from each of the first four hunts that week.
Housing. Page up and page down switch floors in Floorplan Edit Mode, rebindable. Public Neighborhoods stop rolling the same Endeavor twice running.
Interface. Player coordinates under the minimap, toggleable between integers and decimals. Raid frames can show animated ants around dispellable units, or a pulsing dispel overlay. Pinging a macro surfaces its #showtooltip
What to do first
- Finish In the Catalyst’s Shadow and Prismatic Potential before October 6 maintenance
- Bank 7 million if you want the Strider fully loaded
- Hold crests until the cap lifts the week of the 20th
- Kill adds before Suffocating Darkness. Dark Frenzy on a live pack is how Kith’ix pulls end
- Grab Light’s Embrace before every Extinguish. 90% Shadow reduction
- Track Nullify stacks in phase two. Four is a death, not a debuff
- Do not burn ten Venomstones on a weapon out of habit. Necklaces count now
KingBoost covers Midnight raids, keys and Delves from patch day if 3600 is not how you want to spend October
