Midnight Season 2 Delves: Rewards, Achievements, Mounts and More in Patch 12.1
10 min read
Delves are getting the additive treatment in Curse of Ula'tek: nothing from the current roster leaves. Patch 12.1 adds two new regular Delves and a Nemesis Delve on the Coiled Isle, then freshens every existing Midnight Delve with new snake and venom themed story variants. So the pool grows, the old favorites get new coats of paint, and the whole system rolls into Season 2 with rewards scaled up to the new season's item level caps. Here's everything confirmed, plus what we've seen running them on the PTR.
The three new Delves
All three sit on the Coiled Isle, the new zone off the east coast of Zul'Aman.
Gnarldor Isle is on the southern tip of the island, an open outdoor-format Delve in the style Midnight has leaned into. The PTR story variant we ran was Speaking Their Language, with objectives around rescuing turtles and recovering items, capped by a rare (the Venom-Crazed Dart Frog, which squirts waves of nature damage across the arena) and a boss fight with a poison zone you drag the fight out of.
The Ring of Glory sits just north of Gnarldor, built inside a tower around an arena. The name is doing exactly what you think: it's the combat-focused one, with a grudge-pit style competition to win alongside the variant objectives. Our PTR run rolled the Adopt-a-Thon variant, rescuing eight animals between arena fights, so even the fighty Delve keeps the light story flavor.
Venomfall Deeps is the Season 2 Nemesis Delve, on the north end of the isle. Nemesis Delves are the harder boss-gated variant, and this one comes with a real incentive: the Season 2 Nemesis Hall of Fame is no longer capped, so there's no cutoff on earning your place. Nemesis Delves have historically offered some of the best solo and small-group rewards outside raiding and Mythic+, which makes Venomfall Deeps the headline for solo players this season.
PTR being PTR, our Ring of Glory run had a moment where dying reset the entire Delve from scratch, and the end-of-run chest simply didn't exist. Blizzard will have both sorted by launch (that's what the PTR is for), but if you're testing right now, maybe don't get cocky with the pull sizes.

What happens with Season 2
Same one-week stagger as everything else in the patch. The two regular Delves are explorable when 12.1 launches, but the season systems switch on a week later:
- Bountiful Delves activate with Season 2, along with keys.
- Tiers past 7 open up, which is where the new Nemesis boss lives.
- Delve rewards scale to Season 2 item level caps, so the gear coming out of Delves keeps pace with the new raid and M+ loot.
- Every existing Midnight Delve starts rolling the new snake and venom story variants, so your farmed-out favorites play differently.

The tuning change that touches everything

Season 2 ships a combat-wide pass that raises player health pools by 25 percent and enemy damage by 25 percent. The intent is to flatten the damage curve so you feel less like you're hitting a wet noodle between cooldown windows, and in our PTR Delve runs it plays exactly like that: steadier output, fewer valleys, with damage taken keeping the pressure honest. These are early PTR numbers Blizzard may still adjust, but the direction is set, and it changes how spicy the upper Delve tiers feel.
Suggested item levels on the PTR reflect the rebalance too, with Tier 8 suggesting around 283 and Tier 11 around 302. Treat those as PTR values rather than final, but the message is clear: upper tiers expect real gear this season.
New curios and Valeera's poisons

Two new curios showed up in the PTR loot:
- Essence Trap (combat): your companion periodically places a trap that slows enemies inside by 20 percent, then detonates for nature damage and a 1 second stun.
- Misled Spirit (utility): a spirit appears near you in combat, and walking over it (or a Misled Curiosity) fires six volatile sprites at random enemies. Curiosity contents now loot automatically on activation, a small but welcome cleanup.
The bigger companion change is that Valeera now lets you pick your poison, literally. Instead of role-locked behavior, you choose from six poison effects she applies to your and your allies' weapons: a leech, avoidance and speed boost, a damage ramp while you avoid taking hits, a fear-on-strike proc, a frost slow that cuts enemy attack and cast speed, a poison-burst AoE bleed, and a defensive option that reduces enemy damage and haste. The frost and leech options look like the comfortable solo picks, the fear proc looks chaotic in the fun way, and the AoE burst is for runs where survival stopped being a question.
One PTR boss on the isle is apparently a Tubthumping reference, complete with getting knocked down and getting up again. Zero out of ten, devs. It's been stuck in our heads since the run and now it can be stuck in yours.

Season 2 Delver's Journey and the new Prey track
Season 2 refreshes the Delver's Journey with a new 10-rank reward ladder, and Prey gets a matching 10-rank track of its own. The datamining is early and item names are still shifting between PTR builds, so we're keeping this section to what's solid and updating it as the English strings settle.
What's confirmed from the datamined tracks so far:
- The Gilded Stash gets more generous. In Season 2, Tier 11 Delves award a Gilded Stash lootable 4 times a week for Myth Dawncrests, up from 3 in Season 1.
- Zah'ran returns from week 3 of the season, selling Champion equipment at the end of Delves, and later upgrades his stock to Hero-track gear bought with Untainted Mana-Crystals from high-tier Bountiful Coffers.
- Naleidea Rivergleam sells 2 Restored Coffer Keys per week once unlocked, and Coffer Key Shard drops increase from all sources at the top of the track.
- Warbound Champion gear starts dropping from Tier 9+ Delves partway up the ladder, so alts benefit from your main's pushing.
- The Delve-O-Bot 7001 toy gets a Midnight software update chip, finally adding Midnight Delves to its teleport matrix.
- A new serpent-golem mount, the Corroded Soul Crusher, sits mid-track, and a sibling Apophic Soul Crusher has been datamined alongside it with its source not yet confirmed.
- The Prey track is built around a summonable Coiled Isle boss. You burn relics gathered from Nightmare-mode Hunts at braziers to call it, helping with the summon boosts your loot, and the track pays out in cosmetic armor sets, battle pets, a title, a mount and a top-rank option to start Hunts on your own terms.
- The two tracks feed each other. Prey's bonus-gear currencies drop inside Bountiful Delves, and both ladders spend at the same Silvermoon vendors, so running one passively advances the other.
Beyond that, both tracks are stuffed with rewards we're not naming yet: new toys, housing decor pieces, titles, profession recipes and vendor upgrades whose English names are still settling on the PTR. We'll fill in the full rank-by-rank tables here as builds finalize, so check back if you're planning your Season 2 ladder climb.
Getting ready for Season 2 Delves
If Delves are your progression path, the prep is simple: be at the item level to walk into Tier 8 and beyond when Bountiful Delves flip on, because the reward scaling means week-one Delve loot is real gear this season. And if you'd rather skip the climb, our team runs high-tier Delve clears, the Nemesis included once Venomfall Deeps is live, so your vault fills from day one of the season.

FAQ
ARE THE OLD DELVES REMOVED IN SEASON 2?
No. The existing Midnight Delve roster stays. Patch 12.1 adds two new regular Delves and a Nemesis Delve on top, and every existing Delve gains new snake and venom themed story variants.
WHAT ARE THE NEW DELVES IN PATCH 12.1?
Gnarldor Isle and The Ring of Glory are the two regular Delves, both on the Coiled Isle, plus Venomfall Deeps, the Season 2 Nemesis Delve on the island's north end.
WHEN DO BOUNTIFUL DELVES AND THE NEMESIS BOSS UNLOCK?
One week after Patch 12.1 launches, when Midnight Season 2 begins. That's also when tiers beyond 7 open and Delve rewards scale to the new season's item level caps.
IS DELVE GEAR STILL WORTH IT IN SEASON 2?
Yes. Delve rewards are being updated to scale with Season 2 item levels, and Nemesis Delves in particular have offered some of the best solo and small-group rewards outside of raids and Mythic+.
WHAT IS CHANGING ABOUT DELVE DIFFICULTY?
A Season 2 combat pass raises player health and enemy damage by 25 percent each to smooth the damage curve, and PTR suggested item levels are up sharply (around 283 for Tier 8). Final numbers may shift before launch, but upper tiers will expect stronger gear.
