WoW Forever Camp Crafting Guide to the Tanning Rack, Spinning Wheel and Camp-Only Recipes
12 min read
Quick summary: WoW Forever camp crafting is part of the new Camping system, and it lets you build your own crafting station out in the world. Leatherworkers need a Tanning Rack for 48 recipes, and tailors need a Spinning Wheel for 74. Both blueprints cost 15 silver from Happy Camper, who hangs out just outside Ironforge at Dun Morogh 51.6, 40.0, and you'll need 140 skill to learn them. Once you place one it only sticks around for 15 minutes, and all your camp objects share a one hour cooldown, so don't waste it.
WoW Forever camp crafting comes from Camping, one of the biggest new systems in the game. You can light a campfire pretty much anywhere and build a little camp around it. Every profession gets its own camp objects, like a Camp Tent that hands out rested experience or a Faction Banner that buffs Spirit, and anyone who sits by your fire for a minute gets the bonuses too. Some of those objects are crafting stations, and that's where it gets interesting. Some of the best blue armor for Leatherworking and Tailoring can't be made at any town workbench anymore. You've gotta drop a Tanning Rack or a Spinning Wheel next to your fire and craft right there. It's a pretty cozy way to do professions once you get the hang of it. We've been leveling WoW Forever professions at KingBoost since the beta, so here's everything you need: the camp setup, where to grab both blueprints and every recipe that needs them.

Where to get the blueprints

Happy Camper sells both Blueprint: Tanning Rack and Blueprint: Spinning Wheel for 15 silver each. He stands just outside Ironforge in Dun Morogh at /way 51.6 40.0.
He sells to Horde players too, but the Ironforge guards stand close by, so be careful getting there. Both blueprints and the finished objects can also be bought and sold on the auction house, which is the easiest route for most Horde players.
The blueprints drop from bosses as well, but rarely. Razorclaw the Butcher in Shadowfang Keep drops the Tanning Rack blueprint about once in 900 kills, so the vendor is the real source.
How to set up camp

| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| 15 minutes | A placed rack or wheel disappears after 15 minutes |
| Used up on placement | Every new rack or wheel costs its reagents again |
| One hour shared cooldown | All camp objects share one 60 minute cooldown, while the campfire has its own 5 minute cooldown |
- Light a campfire. A Basic Campfire Kit needs 1 Cooking and one Simple Wood, and it holds 3 camp objects. The Journeyman Campfire Kit holds 5, and the Expert Campfire Kit holds 10.
- Place the rack or the wheel beside the fire. It can go on top of a Camp Tent or a Faction Banner, and it keeps what they give.
- Craft while standing next to it, just like at a town anvil. Anyone who sits or crafts by the fire for a minute also gets the camp's bonuses.
Three rules shape every crafting session.
Put every reagent for the whole batch in your bags before you place the rack. 15 minutes is plenty for a batch, but the next rack is an hour away.
Under 140 skill
The first rack recipes open at 125 skill, but placing a rack takes 140. You can still craft them early in two ways.
- Craft at another player's rack. Anyone standing next to a placed rack can use it, whoever set it up.
- Buy a rack on the auction house and ask a leatherworker with 140 skill to place it for you.
The same works for tailors and the Spinning Wheel.
Pristine Leather
21 of the rack recipes also need Pristine Leather, which the rack doesn't make. It comes from Skinning as a scarce extra on top of normal leather.
- Only a skinner of level 25 or lower gets it.
- It comes from beasts of level 10 to 25 that aren't grey and live outside the starting zones.
- At level 30, you stop getting it entirely.
- The Legacy perk Bountiful Harvest gives 20% more per rank.
Skin everything on your way through the level 10 to 25 zones and bank the Pristine Leather, since a level 60 skinner can't farm it later. A few rack recipes also need Pristine Hide.
Tanning Rack recipes
37 of the 48 rack recipes are new WoW Forever patterns, mostly blue leather and mail armor for levels 25 to 30. The other 11 are Classic patterns that now need a rack.
Each new set line adds one signature reagent. Prowler's uses Jade, Warden's uses Elemental Earth and Skirmisher's uses Citrine. Skulker's uses Spider's Silk, Stalker's uses Elemental Air, Skycaller's uses Elemental Water and Mender's uses Iridescent Pearl. Pick the line that matches your class and stock its reagent before you place the rack.
Spinning Wheel recipes
54 of the 74 wheel recipes are new WoW Forever patterns, mostly blue cloth armor for levels 25 to 30. The other 20 are Classic patterns, including the Mooncloth and Dreamweave pieces.
The new tailoring lines follow the same pattern as leather, with one signature reagent each. Gilded uses Gold Bar, Frothing uses Globe of Water and Fiery uses Heart of Fire. Black uses Black Pearl, Golden uses Golden Pearl and Radiant uses Large Radiant Shard.
What comes after the rack and wheel

| Profession | 125 to 140 | 140 | 300 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leatherworking | Another player's rack | Tanning Rack, 48 recipes | Sewing Machine, 91 recipes |
| Tailoring | Another player's wheel | Spinning Wheel, 74 recipes | Loom, 43 recipes |
At 300 skill, a third camp object takes over from each one.
What to do first
- Buy the blueprint from Happy Camper as soon as you hit 140 skill.
- Skin everything from level 10 to 25 and save the Pristine Leather.
- Upgrade to a Journeyman or Expert Campfire Kit so the rack fits alongside your other camp objects.
- Load your bags with every reagent before placing a rack or wheel.
- Place the rack over your Camp Tent to keep the rested experience bonus.
- Use guildmates' racks and wheels below 140 skill.
Camp crafting turns every profession into a planning game of reagents, timers and cooldowns. WoW Forever leveling gets your character through the Pristine Leather zones fast, and WoW Forever professions leveling takes Leatherworking or Tailoring to the skill you need for the rack, the wheel and beyond.
