Chronotraces are the primary research currency in Active Matter. You spend them in the Monolith to unlock blueprints for weapons, equipment, armor, modules and other items. Once a blueprint is researched it can be replicated freely in the Replicator, making Chronotraces one of the most important resources for long-term progression.

The main methods are refining enriched items you bring back from raids and performing specific actions in-game with your equipped gear - kills, damage taken and similar activities tied to the items you're using. The catch is that the game applies diminishing returns the more you repeat the same action in a single raid, so efficient farming requires variety across multiple runs.

It depends on the blueprint tier. Basic gear blueprints are relatively affordable but higher-tier weapons, armor and modules cost significantly more. If you're trying to unlock a full loadout worth of blueprints without grinding for weeks, ordering a larger quantity upfront is the practical approach.
