Each tier is a difficulty level that must be completed to unlock the next one. Higher tiers drop higher ilvl gear, more Dawncrests and Undercoins, and set a higher ilvl ceiling for your weekly Great Vault Delve slot.

Tier 8 is the current target for most players because it produces 259 ilvl gear from the end chest and sets your Great Vault Delve slot at 259. If your character is not ready for Tier 8, unlocking to whatever tier your ilvl supports still improves your weekly rewards compared to staying lower.

The tier unlock runs count toward your Great Vault Delve progress. The Vault slot scales to the highest tier completed that week. Additional Delve runs after the unlock may still be needed to fill all available Vault slots depending on how many the unlock process covers.

Yes. All currency earned during the tier unlock runs stays on your account along with gear, gold and any other drops.

Certain achievements tied to Delve completion may trigger during the unlock runs depending on which tiers and Delves are cleared. Any achievements earned during the service stay on your account.
