Conquer WoW's Toughest Solo Content - The Mage Tower Challenge And Get All The Rewards!

The Mage Tower is one of those pieces of content that separates players who know their class from players who think they do. It scales your character down, turns off all your expansion-specific powers and forces you to rely on nothing but fundamentals. No legendaries, no tier sets, no borrowed power systems coming to save you.

There are seven different challenges, and each one is designed for specific specs. Tanks get thrown into a brutal kiting fight against Highlord Kruul where one wrong step means death. Healers have to keep a group of NPCs alive through waves of damage while those same NPCs do their best to stand in every possible mechanic. DPS challenges vary depending on your spec—some are all about add control and priority damage, others test your ability to handle two bosses with overlapping mechanics.

The reputation these fights have is well earned. Most players need dozens of attempts to clear even one challenge, and plenty of people give up entirely before they finish. The Timewalking scaling is unforgiving and the mechanics punish hesitation.

    IS THE MAGE TOWER AVAILABLE ALL THE TIME?

    Yes. The Mage Tower became permanently available in Patch 10.0.5 and is no longer tied to the Legion Timewalking event. You can attempt challenges anytime by visiting War Councilor Victoria at Deliverance Point on the Broken Shore.

    WHAT REWARDS DO I GET FROM THE MAGE TOWER?

    CAN I GET THE ORIGINAL LEGION ARTIFACT APPEARANCES?

    No. The original Mage Tower artifact weapon appearances from Legion are permanently unobtainable. The current rewards are Tier 20 armor recolors, not the artifact weapon skins that were available during Legion.

    HOW DOES SCALING WORK INSIDE THE MAGE TOWER?

    Your character scales to level 45 and gear scales to item level 120. Expansion-specific powers are completely disabled, including Covenant abilities, legendaries and tier set bonuses. Old enchants and consumables from Legion and Battle for Azeroth still work and can give you an edge.

    DO I NEED MULTIPLE CHARACTERS TO COMPLETE ALL SEVEN CHALLENGES?

    Yes. Each challenge requires specific specializations, so you need characters of different classes to cover all seven. For example, completing every challenge requires at least a Druid, Hunter and Rogue since their specs are spread across multiple encounters.
