World of Warcraft: Midnight – Game Information & FAQ

What is WoW Midnight?

Midnight is the second expansion in the Worldsoul Saga, following The War Within. Xal'atath is back, and this time she's coming for the Sunwell. The expansion takes you to Quel'Thalas, the rebuilt Silvermoon City, the troll lands of Zul'Aman, the nature-like Harandar and the chaotic Voidstorm zone where reality gets twisted. The level cap goes from 80 to 90 and there's enough content at launch to keep you busy for months.

This is the expansion that finally adds player housing. After 20 years of "maybe someday," you can now buy a home, decorate it however you want and join neighborhoods with your guild or random players. It's cosmetic-only – no garrison mission tables, no power tied to your house – just a place to show off your stuff and hang out.

What’s New In WoW Midnight

Level Cap: 90. You'll go from 80 to 90 across four zones before hitting endgame.

Zones: Eversong Woods got revamped, Zul'Aman, Harandar and Voidstorm. All zones unlock at launch without gating.

Stat Squish: Everything got compressed with the release of pre-patch. If you were running around with 700 ilvl in The War Within, you're now looking at around 140. Numbers are smaller but nothing's actually nerfed relative to content.

New Spec: Demon Hunters finally get a third specialization. Devourer is a Void-themed mid range DPS, similar to that harvests souls and throws purple lasers. Void Elves can now be Demon Hunters too.

Endgame Content

Raids: Three raids at launch with 9 bosses total. The Voidspire is your main raid (6 bosses), Dreamrift is a single-boss encounter like old school Onyxia and March on Quel'Danas wraps up the story. Blizzard's experimenting with smaller, more frequent releases, so expect more raids coming out during mid-season.

Dungeons: Eight new dungeons including Windrunner SpireMurder RowMagister's Terrace, Nexus Point Xenas, Den of NalorakkMaisara CavernsThe Blinding Valeand Voidscar Arena. Four Midnight dungeons and four legacy dungeons rotate in the Mythic+ pool.

Delves: Eleven new Delves with Valeera Sanguinar replacing Brann as your companion. Later in the expansion, Labyrinths arrive, a brand new mega dungeon like style Delves that you can either complete in one go or break up across sections..

Mythic+: Season 1 starts March 24, 2026, a week after raids open. Push keys, fill your vault, chase rating. The rotation includes Magister's TerraceMaisara CavernsNexus Point XenasWindrunner SpireAlgeth'ar Academy (Dragonflight)Seat of the Triumvirate (Legion), Skyreach (Warlords of Draenor) and Pit of Saron (Wrath of the Lich King).

Player Housing

After 20 years of requests, it's finally here. Player housing is a permanent addition to WoW, not a borrowed power system that disappears next expansion.

Your first house costs 1,000 gold. You can own two homes: one Alliance side, one Horde side, and every character in your Warband shares access to both.

Neighborhoods hold 50 plots each. You can join public neighborhoods and end up next to random players, or create private ones for your guild. Decoration pulls from places like raids, dungeons, achievements, professions, vendors.

Endeavors are monthly neighborhood-wide events. Everyone chips in, everyone earns exclusive decor you can't get anywhere else. It gives housing an ongoing reason to exist beyond the initial decorating spree.

New Systems

Prey System: Optional open-world hunting based in Silvermoon's Murder Row. Track powerful targets across Midnight zones, choose your difficulty (Normal/Hard/Nightmare) and in return, earn cosmetics, mounts and housing items.

Arcantina: A social hub tavern where you interact with lore characters and complete quests on their behalf. Less gameplay, more flavor.

Renown Factions: Four factions – Silvermoon CourtAmani TribeHara'ti and The Singularity. Each rep advancement grants you mounts, pets, transmog and housing decor among other things.

FAQ

When does Midnight release?
March 2, 2026. Early Access is February 27 with the Epic Edition.

What's the new level cap?
The new level cap in WoW Midnight is 90.

Is there a stat squish?
Yes. Item levels dropped by about 560. Your relative power stays the same – just smaller numbers.

How many raids at launch?
Three raids, 9 total bosses.

What happened to WeakAuras and DBM?
Blizzard overhauled the UI with built-in damage meters, boss timers and cooldown tracking. WeakAuras won't update for Midnight. DBM now relies on Blizzard's systems.

How does player housing work?
Buy a plot for 1,000 gold, join a neighborhood, decorate. All Warband characters share your homes. Purely cosmetic – no combat advantage.

Can I visit Alliance neighborhoods as Horde?
Yes. You can own a home in each faction's area and visit freely on any character.

What's the Prey system?
Optional open-world hunting. Track targets, pick difficulty, earn rewards.

Is Brann still my Delve companion?
No. Valeera Sanguinar takes over.

What are Labyrinths?
Mega-Delves coming later. Longer, harder solo/small-group content – raid equivalent for people who don't want to organize 20 players.

What's the Twilight Ascension event?
Pre-patch catch-up in Twilight Highlands. Gear up to ilvl 144 through rares and weeklies. Good for alts.

Do I need to finish The War Within story?
No. There's a recap for returning players but you can jump straight into Midnight.
