The Drake has four fixed spawn points across the Storm Peaks map. Once it is spawned, it flies one of several specific and long patrol routes. Players often camp in these exact locations using special map coordinates to have the best chance of spotting it first. Knowing of exact flight path - is a key!

The Time-Lost Proto-Drake mount does not just spawn on a simple timer. It shares its spawn with another NPC called Vyragosa. When one can spawn, most times it is going to be Vyragosa (about 90% of the time) and only a very small chance (about 10%) for the rare drake to appear instead. It is all about random chance and luck!
