WoW Forever Cozy Sleeping Bag Guide to the Leveling Item Hidden Across Five Zones
10 min read

Quick Summary: The Cozy Sleeping Bag in WoW Forever comes from a hidden quest chain you can start at level 14. Alliance players begin at the Alexston Farmstead in Westfall, and Horde players at the burned tower south of Camp Taurajo in The Barrens. The chain then runs through Stonetalon Mountains, the Loch Modan dam and Thoradin's Wall. Rest in the bag for 1 minute per stack to get up to 3% bonus experience, and it works as a rested area too.
The WoW Forever Cozy Sleeping Bag is one of the best leveling items in the game, and it's hiding in plain sight. There's no quest giver with a yellow exclamation mark, just a pile of burned remains in an old cart and a note that sends you halfway across Azeroth. Anyone who played Season of Discovery will recognize the chain, but the bag itself works a little differently now, and it pairs beautifully with WoW Forever's new cooking and camping buffs. We ran the chain on both factions at KingBoost, and here's every step with waypoints, plus how to get the most out of the bag once you have it.
What the Cozy Sleeping Bag does

- Bonus experience. Every minute you rest in the bag gives you 1% extra experience, stacking up to 3%. Three minutes is enough for the full bonus
- A portable rested area. You can log out in the bag and keep building rested experience, just like at an inn
- One hour cooldown. You can put it down once an hour
- 10 second setup. Placing the bag takes 10 seconds, and taking damage interrupts it, so put it down somewhere safe

The 3% might not sound like much, but it stacks with the +5% from WoW Forever XP food and the rested experience from aCamp Tent. Over a full leveling session that adds up fast.

WoW Forever Leveling
Before you start
You need to be level 14 to pick up the first quest.
The chain covers five zones on two continents, so set your Hearthstone first. Alliance players should use Stormwind or Ironforge, and Horde players Orgrimmar or the Undercity.
Horde players should wait until they're stronger. The Loch Modan step is deep in Dwarf territory with guards patrolling the dam, so level 30 or higher makes it a lot less painful.
Every step gives good experience, so the trip pays for itself even before you get the bag.

Alliance quest chain
Step 1. Westfall
Head to the Alexston Farmstead in Westfall. In the wreckage of a cart, you'll find the Burned-Out Remains. Click them to pick up...and that note you found.
/way Westfall 37.1 50.1

Step 2. The Barrens
This is the scariest part of the chain for Alliance. Ride through Duskwood into Stranglethorn Vale, take the boat from Booty Bay to Ratchet, then head south to the burned tower below Camp Taurajo. Steer clear of the Crossroads on the way. Click the remains at the foot of the tower to hand in the note and pick upStepping Stones.
/way The Barrens 46.1 74.3

Step 3. Stonetalon Mountains
Head northwest into Stonetalon Mountains and follow the trail past Sun Rock Retreat up to an abandoned camp. Click the Pocket Litter on the crate to hand in Stepping Stones and pick up Scramble.
/way Stonetalon Mountains 40.6 52.4
In the middle of the camp there's an unlit campfire with a bonus quest, Rekindle. The items you just picked up are enough to light it, and it takes a few seconds, so grab it while you're there.

Step 4. The Mound of Dirt
Walk north up the hill from the camp. From the edge you'll see a Mound of Dirt on the slope below. Jump down onto it and click it to complete Scramble and pick upWet Job. Line up the jump carefully, because missing it drops you all the way to the bottom of the ravine.
/way Stonetalon Mountains 39.6 49.8

Step 5. Loch Modan
Hearth to Ironforge, or take the Deeprun Tram from Stormwind, then ride into Loch Modan and up to the dam in the north. Walk to the middle of the dam and drop down onto the ledge above the big carved dwarf heads. Click the Eagle Figurine to complete Wet Job and pick upEagle's Fist.
/way Loch Modan 49.4 12.9

Step 6. Thoradin's Wall
Ride through the Wetlands and Arathi Highlands into Hillsbrad Foothills. As you enter Hillsbrad, turn right and follow Thoradin's Wall until you reach a broken cart under a damaged section. Use the cart to climb onto the wall.
/way Hillsbrad Foothills 87.3 49.6

Walk through the small room inside the wall. On the right, a Messenger Bag hangs by the doorway. Click it to complete Eagle's Fist and pick up This Must Be The Place. Then click the Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel just below it to finish the chain and get your Cozy Sleeping Bag.

Horde quest chain
The Horde chain uses the same steps, but you do the first two in reverse and the travel is much harder.
Step 1. The Barrens
Start at the burned tower just south of Camp Taurajo. Click the Burned-Out Remains inside to pick up...and that note you found.
/way The Barrens 46.1 74.3
Step 2. Westfall
Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Grom'gol in Stranglethorn Vale. The quickest trick is to jump off the zeppelin over the sea and swim north along the coast to Westfall. Find the cart wreckage at the Alexston Farmstead and click the remains to hand in the note and pick upStepping Stones.
/way Westfall 37.1 50.1
Steps 3 and 4. Stonetalon Mountains
Swim back to Grom'gol, keeping an eye out for the naga near the shore, and take the zeppelin home. Fly to the Crossroads, then follow the road west into Stonetalon Mountains. Both steps are the same as the Alliance version: the Pocket Litter at the abandoned camp gives you Scramble, and the Mound of Dirt below the hill gives you Wet Job.
/way Stonetalon Mountains 40.6 52.4
/way Stonetalon Mountains 39.6 49.8
Step 5. Loch Modan
This is the hard part. Hearth to the Undercity and ride south through Hillsbrad Foothills, Arathi Highlands and the Wetlands into Loch Modan. Expect high level mobs on the way, and guards patrolling the dam itself. Get to the middle of the dam, drop onto the ledge, and click the Eagle Figurine forEagle's Fist. On a PvP ruleset, bring a friend or go at a quiet hour.
/way Loch Modan 49.4 12.9
Step 6. Thoradin's Wall
Head back west to Hillsbrad Foothills, find the broken cart along Thoradin's Wall and climb up. The Messenger Bag gives you This Must Be The Place, and the Hastily Rolled-Up Satchel below it gives you the bag.
/way Hillsbrad Foothills 87.3 49.6
Student Fodder
The chain also rewards Student Fodder. In Season of Discovery it gave rested experience, but in WoW Forever it's an instant heal that also restores some of your class resource and adds a strong heal over time for 12 seconds. Keep it for emergencies while you level.

How to get the most out of the bag
- Put it down next to your campfire. Rest by the fire for camp bonuses and lie in the bag at the same time, so you start every session with all three stacks
- Eat XP food first. The +5% from cooking stacks with the bag's 3%
- Log out in it when you're questing far from an inn, so you keep building rested experience
- Share it with your group. Party members can rest in your bag too
- Place it before a long questing stretch, not right before you log off, so the bonus covers your best leveling time

What to do first
- Hit level 14 and set your Hearthstone in your capital
- Alliance, start in Westfall at the Alexston Farmstead
- Horde, start at the burned tower in The Barrens, and leave the Loch Modan step until you're around 30
- Light the campfire in Stonetalon for the bonus Rekindle quest
- Rest in the bag for 3 minutes every hour you play, with XP food on
The Cozy Sleeping Bag turns every questing session into a slightly faster one, and paired with food and a camp it makes the long climb to 60 a lot cozier. If you'd rather skip the trip across five zones,WoW Forever leveling gets your character to 60 with the bag's bonus working the whole way.
