Three unlocks your first Great Vault slot, four opens the second and eight opens all three. If you want a full Vault week, eight is the number. Fewer runs still bank the loot and crests, they just fill less of the Vault.

A 295 ilvl drop chance starting at Champion 2/8, Champion Mistcrests toward upgrading your Champion track gear and progress toward a 305 Great Vault reward on Hero track. Plus all gold and any other loot the run produces.

Timed runs give a higher end of dungeon chest and count toward your Mythic+ rating. If you want the rating to move as well as the gear, take it. If you only want the loot and crests, untimed clears still deliver both.
