WoW Season 2 Trinkets and Special Effect Gear Guide
5 min read
A new raid and a fresh Mythic+ rotation means a fresh pile of trinkets to sort through, and Season 2 brings more special effect gear than usual on top of them. The short version is that the strongest pieces come out of the Venomous Abyss, several are flagged as very rare, and a chunk of them drop above the normal upgrade track on Mythic, which all but guarantees they end up as best in slot. Here is the full breakdown, grouped by where each piece drops, with Wowhead links for every item.
Season 2 trinkets
The trinket pool pulls from the new Venomous Abyss raid, the eight-dungeon Mythic+ rotation and the new Lair world boss. Delve and world-content trinkets are their own separate list and are not covered here, since these are the ones that matter most for raid and high-key play
Raid: The Venomous Abyss

- Soulcoiler Ritual Vessel - Nek'zali the Soulcaller
- Keeper's Seething Core - Entombed Sentinel
- Vashnik's Sanguine Rancor - Vashnik the Malignant
- Fang of Umbral Malignance - Vashnik the Malignant
- First Mate's Shellward - The Lost Explorers
- Gebbo's Bottomless Bag - The Lost Explorers
- Idol of the Howling Nexus - Sszorak
- Sszorak's Ferocity - Sszorak
- Preternatural Antivenom - The Twin Fangs
- Hex Lord's Dooming Idol - The Coiled Altar
- Zul'jin's Guillotine Technique - The Coiled Altar
- Voracious Heart of Ula'tek - Ula'tek
- Font of Venomous Rage - Ula'tek
The two Ula'tek trinkets sit at the top of the pool, which is the running theme of the tier. If you want the raid's best pieces without a full Mythic clear on the calendar, a Venomous Abyss carry gets you to the boss that matters
Lair world boss: The Tidebound Grotto
- Wavecaller's Seastone - Nymrissa Wavecaller

Special effect gear
Alongside the trinkets, Patch 12.1 adds a large batch of "Cantrip" gear, weapons, armor and jewelry with built-in procs. Most of it is very rare or drops from the last two bosses of the Venomous Abyss, and on Mythic it comes in above the normal upgrade track, so these pieces are strong contenders for best in slot all season. There is even a small strength and agility set in the mix
Cantrip weapons

Dungeons
- Sharpened Lightwood Slasher - Altar of Fangs
- Polished Lightwood Channeler - Altar of Fangs
- Geti'ikku, Cut of Death - Kings' Rest
The Venomous Abyss

- Aman'muso, Warlord's Vengeance - The Coiled Altar (very rare)
- Abyssal Broodfiend's Bardiche - Ula'tek
- Caustic Repose Greatbow - Ula'tek
- Zatha'tek, Breath of Corruption - Ula'tek (very rare)
- Jan'thrazet, the Soul Fang - Ula'tek (very rare)
- Maze-roa, Warlord's Fury - The Coiled Altar (very rare)
- Jaw of the Shackled Goddess - Ula'tek
Cantrip armor
Every special effect armor piece drops only from Ula'tek, the final boss of the Venomous Abyss. Each one carries a single secondary stat rather than two, with a proc that pushes that stat higher while shaving a little off the others. It leans right into the venom theme of gaining a lot in one area at a small cost elsewhere. Catalyzed versions keep both their secondary stats and the effect, so these still work toward your tier set
- Awoken Dreadfang Cuirass - Ula'tek
- Gaze of the Coiled Watcher - Ula'tek
- Venomkeeper's Horrific Cowl - Ula'tek
- Chausses of Unbound Rancor - Ula'tek
Cantrip jewelry
The rings and amulets work differently. Most of them cut the damage you take from the Deadly Venom found in the raid and out on the Coiled Isle, with no benefit in other content, so these are situational pieces for this tier specifically. There is no sign that stacking two of them stacks the reduction. The exception, as usual, is the Ula'tek drop
Dungeons
- Cloak of the Restless Tribes - Kings' Rest
The Venomous Abyss
- Sentinel's Vitriolic Chain - Entombed Sentinels
- Vile Alchemist's Band - Vashnik the Malignant
- Apex Brute's Claw Ring - Sszorak
- Amulet of the Twin Fangs - The Twin Fangs
- Aqirbane Reliquary - Ula'tek
Where to focus
If you are chasing best in slot, the pattern is hard to miss. Ula'tek holds most of the tier's strongest special effect gear and its two best trinkets, and the very rare weapons off the last two bosses will define a lot of specs once they drop. That makes the back half of the Venomous Abyss the priority, with the Mythic+ pool filling the gaps on the trinket slots week to week. If the Mythic clear is not realistic with your group's schedule, a Venomous Abyss raid carry or Mythic+ boost puts the pieces in reach without waiting on 20 other people's calendars
FAQ
What is the best trinket in WoW Season 2?
The two Ula'tek raid trinkets, Voracious Heart of Ula'tek and Font of Venomous Rage, sit at the top of the pool, since gear from the final boss drops at a higher item level than the rest of the raid
What is Cantrip gear in Patch 12.1?
It is the patch's special effect gear: weapons, armor and jewelry with built-in procs. Most is very rare or drops from the last two Venomous Abyss bosses, and on Mythic it lands above the normal upgrade track, making it best in slot for many specs
Where do the Season 2 dungeon trinkets drop?
Across the eight-dungeon Mythic+ rotation: Altar of Fangs, Den of Nalorakk, Murder Row, The Blinding Vale, Voidscar Arena, Kings' Rest, Ruby Life Pools and Temple of Sethraliss
Are there Delve trinkets in Season 2?
Yes, Delve and world content have their own trinkets. They are not listed here because this guide focuses on the raid and Mythic+ pieces, but they are worth tracking if Delves are your main endgame
